Perched on a narrow site with sweeping panoramic views to Bondi Beach and beyond, this new residence transforms a constrained urban footprint into a light-filled family home that embraces its unique setting.
Developed in close collaboration with the interior designer-owners, the design adopts an "upside-down" planning strategy, positioning the primary living spaces on the uppermost level to capture the expansive coastal outlook. Every habitable room opens onto a balcony framed by continuous planter ribbons, strengthening the connection between the interior, landscape and surrounding views.
A sculptural stair forms the heart of the residence, connecting all three levels while creating a clear and efficient circulation spine. The middle floor is dedicated to private accommodation, where layered planting provides privacy without compromising natural light or outlook.
At ground level, flexibility has been carefully considered, with a front room designed to function as either a home office or guest suite, allowing the house to adapt to changing family needs over time. To the rear, a double-height sunken living room opens directly onto the landscaped courtyard and pool, creating a generous indoor-outdoor entertaining space.
Defined by soft curves, integrated planting and carefully considered spatial connections, the project balances privacy, flexibility and everyday functionality. Each level engages with its surroundings, creating a home that responds to both its site and its coastal setting.
