This beachside semi detached residence is conceived as a light-filled sanctuary that responds to its coastal context through materiality, spatial openness, and a strong dialogue between inside and out.
A central atrium introduces natural light deep into the plan, its series of skylights activating a double-height volume where woven pendant lights hover above the dining table — softening the scale and providing a tactile counterpoint to the clean lines of the architecture. This gesture enhances vertical flow while referencing the informality of a coastal promenade.
Circulation is anchored by a sculptural staircase that rises through the atrium into a common workspace that connects the private zones upstairs.
The kitchen and living spaces are configured to dissolve boundaries with the landscape. Full-width sliding doors open onto the rear garden, enabling a fluid transition between interior and exterior, and reinforcing the home’s connection to its environment.
Above, the main bedroom occupies a privileged corner of the upper level, where a recessed balcony cut into the existing roofline frames expansive views from Bondi to Maroubra. Each bedroom includes its own balcony, ensuring outdoor connectivity and passive ventilation throughout.
